Guintoli hopes to learn from master McGuinness

After his trip to the Isle of Man TT Sylvain Guintoli hopes he can put into practice what he learnt while watching John McGuinness claim Senior TT glory with Honda

Sylvain Guintoli says he was seriously impressed by the John McGuinness masterclass as he claimed victory in the Senior TT at the Isle of Man on the Honda and hopes the Morecambe man's efforts rub off on him this weekend in Misano.

The reigning World Superbike champion enjoyed a parade lap around the TT course while supporting his fellow Honda rider and admired how McGuinness got the CBR1000R working perfectly. Guintoli, who has been struggling to find consistent pace in World Superbike, hopes what he picked up while at the Isle of Man can have a positive effect in Italy.

"I'm still buzzing from the parade lap I did last week at the Isle of Man TT, except it wasn't a parade lap as we were doing almost 200kph down Bray Hill and I saw 270kph on the CBR's clocks over the mountain," Guintoli said. "What a perfect bike for the job though, as John McGuinness showed in the Senior TT on Friday. Now it's time to focus back on our own CBR for Misano and continue the hard work that the team has been doing recently."

Guintoli says he was satisfied by the progress his Pata Honda squad made at the mid-season test in Portugal and is targeting a first rostrum finish of 2015 at the Misano Word Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

"We had a test after the Portimao round and tried a couple of new things that we think could improve our race pace some more," he said. "I really like Misano and it'll be good to try the new surface there and chase more top five finishes and our first podium of the season."
