WATCH Master v Pupil as Sofuoglu and Razgatlioglu battle on kart track

While we’re reduced to poring through archive footage to get our racing fix at the moment, it turns out there is still a little bit of hard action we can enjoy out there at the moment courtesy of WorldSBK rider Toprak Razgatlioglu and Kenan Sofuoglu.

While Razgatlioglu waits patiently for the 2020 WorldSBK season to get back underway, he’s keeping his head in the game with a few hard laps of a local karting circuit on motorcycles alongside his manager – and five-time WorldSSP champion – Sofuoglu.

It’s only a short clip but in a little under two minutes we get to see numerous overtakes, plenty of undercuts and some hard – yet clean – racing around a circuit that has all the hallmarks of a miniature Phillip Island.

It’s not high-speed nor is it on the limit but judging by the millimetre margins over the kerbs and between the bikes, it appears as though they are going for it! Enjoy…

While injuries would bring a premature end to Sofuoglu’s hugely successful racing career as recently as 2018, the Turk has turned his attentions to cultivating fresh talent instead and has played a huge role in developing Razgatlioglu into a potential title contender.

Razgatlioglu emerged as a breakout star in 2019 on the privateer Puccetti Kawasaki, notching up a pair of wins en route to fifth overall. This year he will compete with the factory Pata Yamaha squad, the 23-year old notching up a win on his debut at Phillip Island before the season was halted due to the coronavirus.

In addition, he is involved in the newly formed Turkish Racing team, which will compete in the WorldSSP Championship with 16-year old Can Oncu.
