Federico Caricasulo and Althea Racing Ducati have officially unveiled their 2022 WorldSSP colours.

Caricasulo, who will ride for a manufacturer other than Yamaha for the first time since 2017 this season, joined Ducati at the end of last year following its announced return to WorldSSP - first time since 2007 that Ducati will compete in the intermediate class.

For Caricasulo, the man who finished runner-up in 2019 to Randy Krummenacher, the switch to Althea Racing also marks his sixth different team since the 2019 campaign.

The 2020 WorldSBK rider started last season with GMT94 Yamaha, before moving to Biblion Iberica Yamaha Motoxracing and then VFT Yamaha to end the year.

Speaking at the team’s official launch, Caricasulo said: "I was immediately happy to race with Althea Racing, a team rich in experience and with an incredible history.

"I confirmed the first impressions of the bike and of the team and I must say that the first tests we've made have further convinced me that I have made the right choice.

"The bike is beautiful, and I already feel at home. I hope to be able to make Genesio Bevilacqua and the boys proud of me."

Caricasulo will be part of a six-team/seven-rider strong Ducati line-up as Nicolo Bulega will ride for Aruba.it Racing, Oliver Bayliss (Barni Spark Ducati), Maximilian Kofler (CM Racing), Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) and finally DG34 Racing Ducati has a two-rider team consisting of brothers Filippo and Federico Fuligni.

Althea Racing Team Owner, Genesio Bevilacqua also added: "We came back for the pleasure of doing it and the desire to test ourselves without any filter, after two years in which we stopped due to the pandemic and because of a motorcycling in which we no longer recognized ourselves 100%.

"The guys asked me for a challenge and this Supersport is the right category to test ourselves, in the way we like best: that of experience and personal skills rather than technology and unlimited means.

"The stock motorcycle racing focus is on Supersport, and we want to immediately be protagonists of this new ‘next generation’ formula, with the lightness, but also with the seriousness that has always distinguished us.

"We have chosen the right challenge, the rider and the right partners and we are sure that we will be able to bring the Althea Racing DNA back to the track."
