Bridewell gets acquainted with Yamaha

Tommy Bridewell feels he is ready to make his Motorpoint Yamaha debut at Cadwell Park next weekend after wrapping another day of testing at Mallory Park.

The youngster returns to the British Superbike Championship for the final four events after penning a deal with Motorpoint Yamaha in place of the cash-strapped Loris Baz.

An entirely new machine for the 23-year-old having spent 2010 - and the early rounds of the 2011 season - riding a Honda CBR1000RR for Quay Garage/Tyco Honda, Bridewell was nonetheless pleased with the progress made on the R1.

"The few laps I managed last week were great as I got time to sleep on things and get ready for this test, the bike feels great albeit quite different from my last Superbike.

"I know I have to adapt to the bike and with a free track and good weather I feel I have made big steps. No time left now though we are jumping straight in at Cadwell and I can't wait!"

Motorpoint Yamaha head into the latter rounds of the 2011 season with an entirely new rider line-up after James Westmoreland was also released from his contract. No announcement on a second rider to join Bridewell has been made.
