Howarth, MotoDex team up for BSB return

MotoDex returns to the British Superbike Championship with Michael Howarth set to make his first race start since 2013 at Oulton Park.

Michael Howarth is to make his first British Superbike Championship race start for three years after agreeing a deal to join MotoDex Performance for the 2016 season.

A former rugby league player, Howarth has made several sporadic appearances in BSB over the years, his most recent role being team owner for the shortlived MH Kawasaki team in 2014.

However, for his latest BSB bid he will be riding a BMW S1000RR with MotoDex Performance, itself returning to the series after pulling out after only a few races last season.

"I'm absolutely over the moon to finally be able to say I'm back," he said. "I haven't ridden since 2013 and since then I've been fighting tooth and nail to get a deal where I can give it my all. I've always said I wouldn't do a half-baked job of it, I was determined if I came back it would be for the full season and now I'm in a position to do just that. I am ready to come back and give it everything I have to get the best results I can.

"I'm excited to be back out there at Oulton Park. It's my home track and that's always something special, and I will be giving it my all every time I go out onto the track. Thanks to Tony and MotoDex I'm able to get my career back on track and I want to also thank every single person who has made that possible. Now it's time to thank them by getting the best results I can."

"It's all come together in the space of just over a week but I'm delighted to be able to announce the return of MotoDex to the grid," added tam owner Tony Dexter. "I spoke to Michael last year and I've long wanted to work with him, but this time everything has come together.

"It's been a tough year, I've relocated the business to Sheffield and now after a lot of work it's the right time to come back. I've always loved this championship, it's where we belong and I've missed it a lot.

"We still have a lot of work to do but I always wanted to come back and now we've finalised a deal I couldn't be happier to be back for the rest of the season with Michael aboard our BMW. We're all set and we are all looking forward to this new adventure."
