Danny Buchan has claimed the top spot honour after Friday practice at Knockhill ahead of the fifth round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike championship having edged out Jake Dixon by 0.005s.

The FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider made the most of the late session time attack to jump to the front of the field with a 47.473s on the resurfaced Knockhill circuit in sunny and warm conditions to produce the marker to beat ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.

Dixon went closest to beating Buchan on the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki only to miss out by five-thousandths of a second with his final flying lap. Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty continued to impress having led the times to FP2 to take third on the combined times ahead of Honda’s Dan Linfoot.

Richard Cooper led the Buildbase Suzuki charge in fifth place in the afternoon session ahead of PBM Ducati duo Glenn and Andrew Irwin, with Glenn suffering a fall early in FP2 at the hairpin, with Donington Park double winner Bradley Ray only managing eighth place.

Leon Haslam, who topped FP1 and lead the early stages of the afternoon session, crashed out midway through FP2 at the first turn which prematurely halted his day for JG Speedfit Kawasaki which saw him tumble down the times to ninth place.

Christian Iddon rounded out the top 10 on the Tyco BMW ahead of Luke Mossey (JG Speedfit Kawasaki), while less than one second split the top 17 riders at the chequered flag.
