Buchan: Knockhill lap record came pretty easily…

Danny Buchan says pace came to him immediately at Knockhill after setting a new outright lap record at the Scottish circuit to top Friday practice.

The FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider notched up 47.473s in the late FP2 time attack to secure top spot by just 0.005s from Jake Dixon on the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki.

Buchan, who produced an eye-catching display at Snetterton with a pair of fifth places, says he felt competitive straight away at the Scottish circuit and is quietly confident going into the races.

“I feel good, especially to have set the fastest ever lap of Knockhill and to be honest it felt like it came pretty easily,” Buchan said. “We did a test here on my practice bike to blow the cobwebs off and that was positive and then we started here on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki race bike and we were fast straight away.

“All credit to the team, we knew we were competitive, but I did a good run and that lap wasn’t like a qualifying session where you take your brain out and go for it.

“That is ideal and we are working towards race two but it feels great to be up the sharp end that’s for sure. I am building momentum and I am going to bed with a smile on my face.”
