Brookes: Bike setup always a compromise at Cadwell Park

While Josh Brookes often stars with the spectacular at Cadwell Park the Be Wiser Ducati rider is eager to understand how the new V4 R performs around the iconic Lincolnshire circuit this weekend.

After taking a much-needed victory at Thruxton last time out, Brookes has closed up the Bennetts British Superbike championship standings with just 20 points splitting him from team-mate and leader Scott Redding.

Switching to an entirely different challenge at Cadwell Park Brookes says he won’t be able to gauge how well the Ducati V4 R performs at the unique track until he gets going this weekend.

Despite his uncertainty the 2015 BSB champion underlined the demand for compromise with setup for any bike at Cadwell Park given its fast and flowing first half before the tight and twisty second part – including the Mountain where Brookes shines.

“Setting a bike up for Cadwell is always a compromise as you have the jump and the really tight stuff where you need one setting, then the flat-out straights and fast corners where you ideally need another setting,” Brookes said.

“Remember this is a brand-new bike and I’m not sure how it will perform until we get some laps under our belt and get the sort of race set-up we will need to challenge for wins.

“But I always enjoy racing there and do my best to try to put on a show over the Mountain for the fans!”

Brookes also closed the deficit on Podium Points to Redding to six points over the Thruxton round, while both Be Wiser Ducati riders can mathematically book their top six Showdown spots at Cadwell Park this weekend.
