Scott Redding is relishing the chance to fightback in the Bennetts British Superbike championship title battle at the Oulton Park triple-header which hosts the final round before the Showdown kicks in.

The former MotoGP rider lost his BSB championship lead to Josh Brookes last time out at Cadwell Park, with the Australian rider now leading the overall standings by 12 points and he also has two more Podium Points.

After a frustrating end to his Cadwell Park round when he was taken out by Honda’s Andrew Irwin in Race 2, Redding is looking to build on his solid showing on his Oulton Park debut when he grabbed a pair of top fives back in May.

But knowing only Podium Points will really matter this weekend having already booked his BSB Showdown spot, Redding is hopeful of improving on areas he was weak with at the Cheshire track earlier this season.

“Going back to Oulton Park will be good for me as I enjoyed it earlier this season and we gained a lot of information,” Redding said. “The plan is to improve on those results as I now know a little bit more of what to expect and it’s a lot later in the season, so I’ve got more knowledge of the bike and the team.

“I’m feeling pretty confident, I know there are a couple of places we need to work on but there’s a title to be won so it’s a case of full send this weekend.”

Redding has missed out on the BSB podium for the past three races, his equal-longest drought in his BSB rookie campaign.

Last week it was confirmed Redding will leave BSB after a single season as he joins the factory Aruba.it Racing Ducati squad in the World Superbike championship for 2020.
