Scott Redding has completed a clean sweep of topping practice sessions at Assen ahead of the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown as he continues to obliterate the lap record.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider produced a late 1m 35.613s to move 0.611s ahead of his nearest challenger Glenn Irwin on the Tyco BMW who displaced Tommy Bridewell from second place.

BSB Showdown contender Bridewell had to settle for third place on the Oxford Racing Ducati, almost a full second slower than Redding over a single lap, with the ex-MotoGP rider notching up ominous pace ahead of qualifying.

Luke Stapleford has continued to impress for Buildbase Suzuki by taking fourth place in FP3 with Honda’s Xavi Fores splitting him from team-mate Bradley Ray to complete the top six.

With Jason O’Halloran in seventh for McAMS Yamaha, the next highest BSB Showdown challenger was Danny Buchan who had to settle for seventh place for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki but directly ahead of current BSB championship leader Josh Brookes who needed his final lap of the session to take ninth place for Be Wiser Ducati.

Christian Iddon rounded out the top 10 for Tyco BMW ahead Andrew Irwin (Honda), Richard Cooper (Buildbase Suzuki) and Hector Barbera (Quattro Plant Kawasaki).

The final two BSB Showdown contenders Peter Hickman on the Smiths Racing BMW and Tarran Mackenzie on the McAMS Yamaha could only reach 14th and 15th respectively on the FP3 timesheet as the pair seek pace gains in preparation for qualifying at Assen later today.
