Iddon ‘pumped to win’ after leading ‘many laps this year’

Christian Iddon has taken victory at the fourth time of asking after finally coming out on top in his battle with BSB series leader Jason O’Halloran.

As was the case in all three races at Oulton Park, Iddon took the lead early from O’Halloran.

Danny Buchan then came through on the Visiontrack Ducati rider, however, one lap later Iddon regained the lead after Buchan momentarily lost the front at T8.

Then came the crucial part of the race as both O’Halloran and Buchan started to close in on Iddon. With eight laps to go the gap was seven tenths which gradually came down each lap.

But unlike Oulton Park, the McAMS Yamaha rider never got in touching distance even with Iddon running slightly wide at the final corner.

After leading the most laps so far this season, Iddon’s second ever BSB win had a longtime coming feel to it.

"Honestly I was just so pumped to win. I feel like I have led so many laps so far this year, when I passed for the lead I was like ‘hmm, not sure if I want to lead yet’ but I got a good run," added Iddon.

"I thought I’d do it and just ruffle a few feathers and then Danny [Buchan] came through and set an insanely fast pace, but he lost the front, so there I was back with a clear track again.

"I just sort of raced my lap timer and it was coming up with good times so I was happy.

"I tried to keep constant and work on myself a little bit, I learnt a little bit out the back section when Danny was in front and then later in the race I just found a little bit of something in myself at turn seven."
