Lucas di Grassi took victory in Felipe Massa's annual karting event in Brazil despite failing to finish the second of two races at Arena Sapiens in Florianopolis.

The Virgin F1 driver took victory in the opening heat of the weekend ahead of Massa and Antonio Pizzonia but then retired from race two - which was won by IndyCar driver Ana Beatriz after she stormed through from eleventh on the grid.

Beatriz beat Rubens Barrichello and Felipe Giaffone to victory, admitting afterwards that she had never dreamed of overtaking someone like Barrichello on track.

The results left di Grassi, Massa, Barrichello and Beatriz level on 25 points with di Grassi taking the victory thanks to his win in the opening race.

The four drivers finished one point ahead of Tony Kanaan with Jaime Alguersuari rounding out the top six.
