German rider Marcel Schrotter has been announced as the latest recruit for the Desguaces La Torre SAG Team after testing the Bimota HB4 during the Moto2/Moto3 summer break.

In signing for the Spanish team he takes becomes their fourth racer and official replacement for Angel Rodriguez. Since dropping the Spaniard, Stop and Go have also fielded Massimo Roccoli and Damian Cudlin, but are yet to score a championship point.

19-year-old Schrotter had previously been riding in the Moto3 class for Mahindra until splitting from the team after failing to finish his home grand prix at the Sachsenring and having scored just four points so far this season.

Schrotter acknowledges the move will be challenging as it involves changing racing class as well as his bike midway through the season:

"This situation is a new challenge that both me and the team needed. I had the opportunity to test the Bimota HB4 and I liked a lot its behaviour, the results were quite good and that motivates me for the Indianapolis GP.

"I am aware that is going to be difficult but with effort and dedication I hope to be proud when comes the end of the season. I want to thank Edu [Perales - team manager] for this opportunity and hope we can help each other to reach our goals."

Schrotter will make his debut for the team when the Moto2 season returns with the Indianapolis grand prix weekend 17-19 August.
