Randy de Puniet is bidding to go one better in the Spanish Grand Prix this season, twelve months after finishing fourth for LCR Honda around the Jerez circuit.

The Frenchman kicked his 2010 MotoGP campaign off in good form at Losail with a run to sixth position as the second highest-placed satellite rider in the race and ahead of factory man Dani Pedrosa.

Moving onto Jerez, de Puniet starred around the Spanish circuit last season with a competitive run to fourth position, although the Frenchman now wants to go one step further and get on the podium this time around.

"After the postponement of the Motegi GP I have increased my training programme to be at 100 per cent for Jerez race," he said. "After the good result we have obtained in Qatar our target remains the same: a top-ten finish. Last year's Jerez GP was one of the best moments of my season as I finished fourth. I aim to be in the front this year again.

"The base setup we have developed during winter testing was very helpful in the first round and I think it will be the same in Spain. We will start from the same setup and, session by session, we will adjust the bike."
