San Carlo has renewed its title sponsorship of the Honda Gresini MotoGP team for the 2012 season.

The announcement was made on the eve of this weekend's Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, but there was still no word on whether the team will continue to run a second bike - alongside the recently re-signed Marco Simoncelli.

"Being able to announce that San Carlo will be at our side again for the 2012 season is a source of great satisfaction," said team principal Fausto Gresini. "It was important to give continuity to our project with Marco Simoncelli and we are proud to be able to share our high expectations for 2012 with San Carlo.

"Next season's project for the San Carlo Honda Gresini Team, with the strong backing and support of HRC, is a very ambitious one and with Marco Simoncelli riding the factory RC213V there will be a lot of excitement."

San Carlo has been Gresini's title sponsor since 2008.

Simoncelli, who joined MotoGP last season, took his first podium at Brno this year.
