PICS: Pedrosa's Sachsenring crash.

This is the spectacular accident that cost Dani Pedrosa the race and world championship lead on Sunday in Germany.

Despite traditionally preferring dry conditions, the Repsol Honda rider blasted to a seven second lead with five laps of the wet Sachsenring race - but then lost the front as soon as he touched the brakes for turn one.

Pedrosa and his RC212V speared off track at high speed. Pedrosa was eventually stopped by an air fence, while his Honda was launched high into the air before coming to a rest.

The Spaniard fractured the top bone of his left index finger in the incident and also has a suspected fracture of his right ankle - should his hand injury require surgery then the Clinica Mobile believes that Pedrosa will be forced to miss next weekend's German Grand Prix.

Pedrosa's fall handed victory to Casey Stoner, who is now just four points behind the Spaniard in the world championship standings. Valentino Rossi, second in Sunday's race, has moved 16 points clear of Pedrosa with eight rounds still to go.
