Following Sunday's French MotoGP, most riders travelled to Spain to take part in a private test at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The test was arranged to evaluate tyres and gather data on the new track surface, which includes a re-profiled penultimate corner, ahead of next month's race.

However, rain on Tuesday meant most riders postponed testing until today.

Crutchlow - injured last weekend at Le Mans – was fastest in the morning session, with Vinales getting a welcome boost after a difficult French MotoGP by being the only rider to break the 1m 39s barrier in the afternoon session.

Rabat was transferred to hospital for medical checks after a big accident at the final turn in the morning. No broken bones were found but he will undergo further examinations to discard any ligament injuries to his left elbow...

The Aspar and Marc VDS teams did not take part in the test.

"The unofficial test was very positive," said a Michelin spokesman. "Riders were very happy with the levels of grip the track gave and how the tyres performed on the new asphalt. Lap times were fast and many laps were completed. All [tyre] specs were tested - four front and four rear - and Michelin will now analyse the data to finalise the tyre allocation in readiness for the race weekend."

Round six of the world championship will take place at Mugello from June 1-3, with the Barcelona race weekend from June 15-17.
