KTM's desperation to keep hold of Acosta meant that they went to great lengths to rearrange their 2024 plans.
The manufacturer's initial plans to add a fifth bike to the grid, or to buy an existing satellite team to facilitate more bikes, failed.
KTM were left with five contracted riders, including Acosta, for four bikes. But the teenager has got the nod to step up into the premier class, fending off interest from rival manufacturers.
