Marco Melandri has launched a scathing attack on Max Biaggi after suggesting he was deliberately blocked during Superpole at Donington Park.

The pair came across one another on the exit of McLeans during SP2, Biaggi moving across the circuit in the path of Melandri.

Forcing the Yamaha rider to slow, Melandri expressed his displeasure by gesticulating at his countryman, before pulling off a 'block-pass' at the hairpin to indicate his frustration.

Eventually bumped down to ninth position, thus ruling him out of the top eight shootout, Melandri was furious with Biaggi, saying his actions revealed his 'true professionalism'.

"I'm disappointed to be starting on third row of the grid tomorrow, but that's what happens in Superpole," he said.

"I'm just sorry that it was another rider's fault. Biaggi showed his true professionalism, he cut in front of me even though he clearly had seen me and that's not how a World Champion should be riding.

"I'm going out there in the races even more determined than ever and I believe our race pace is good."
