Leading Superstock 1000 team Barni Racing has confirmed its plans to enter a trio of World Superbike races in 2014 as a wild-card.

The Italian team, which will compete in the SSTK 1000 class with a new rider line-up of Leandro Mercado and Ondrej Jezek, confirmed at the launch of its 2014 campaign that it will enter an EVO-specification Ducati 1199 Panigale at Imola, Misano and an as-yet-confirmed event.

The outfit is no stranger to WSBK competition having submitted several wild-card entries over the years, but this will be the first time it has competed in the newly-created EVO class.

Launching its campaign in Bergamo ahead of the opening SSTK 1000 round at Motorland Aragon, the Barni event was attended by Eddi La Marra, who was seriously injured in a testing accident last year. The Italian, who was in an induced coma for a period of time, is yet to decide whether he will return to racing.
