WorldSBK news: Toprak Razgatlioglu Covid-19 update

Toprak Razgatlioglu remains in isolation following a positive Covid-19 test a week ago at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.

Razgatlıoğlu was withdrawn from the second day of Official WorldSBK testing and placed in isolation by the Pata Yamaha Brixx WorldSBK team, following a positive pre-travel polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

The rest of the team were tested at the same time and have since undergone further PCR tests, all of which have come back negative.

Razgatlioglu remains in Barcelona and is said to be asymptomatic and in good spirits.

The Turkish rider has provided an update on his condition, saying: "The good news is that I feel good! Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone for their kind messages, also the team and Handan Kilnc for making sure I’m as comfortable as possible.

"Obviously it’s been very boring here, but I’m also happy to have a nice place to live in, while I wait for a negative test result.

"I’m hoping that I’ll get a chance to join the team for the first Aragon test, but we will see what the situation is after Saturday."

Although Razgatlioglu missed out on valuable testing during the final day, it was a good one for the team overall with rookie Andrea Locatelli impressing on his fourth outing.

This comes after the team's two-day test at Misano alongside Aruba.it Ducati a week prior which Razgatlioglu participated in.

As Razgatlioglu mentioned, the next opportunity to ride the R1 Yamaha will be a test at Aragon, before the season opener at the same venue on May 21-23.
