HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship racer Jonny Adam will make a one-off return to his roots in single-seater racing this weekend when he takes part in the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone.

Adam experienced single-seater racing early in his career when competing in the Formula Ford Zetec Championship in 2003, winning the Newcomer's Cup and finishing in a highly respectable third place in the main championship.

However, this weekend will be the first time in six years that Adam will have got behind the wheel of a single-seater competitively since his Formula Ford Championship days and he will go up against a number of fellow Scots in the knock-out event - including Jillian Shedden, wife of BTCC rival Gordon.

"I'm excited about taking part in the Walter Hayes Trophy as I've not driven single-seaters for four or five years," he said. "If I can make the final then great, but there's going to be some really quick lads out there. There's also going to be a few Scottish drivers I know well involved, so it will be good to go head-to-head with them.

"It's going to be fun and there's not the same pressure on me as in a BTCC event, but I still want to go out there and compete well and do my sponsors proud for giving me this opportunity."
