The sun will set on the 2019 Formula 1 season as it draws to a close at this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

After 21 races and nine months of intense on-track action, the curtain will finally fall on another campaign in the desert under the floodlights at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Both world championships have already been sewn up by Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton respectively, but there are still a number of things to sort before the chequered flag is waved for the final time in 2019 at the end of Sunday’s 55-lap race.

The announcement of Williams signing Nicholas Latifi as Robert Kubica's replacement for next season has completed the 2020 grid, with the 34-year-old Pole contesting his final race for Williams in the UAE before departing the championship at the end of his comeback campaign.

Kubica will not be the only driver saying his goodbyes this weekend, with Nico Hulkenberg's exit from F1 - for the short-term at least - now confirmed. The German will be replaced at Renault by Esteban Ocon next year and has failed to land a seat elsewhere.

The final round of the Formula 2 championship also takes place this weekend, with the battle for runner-up spot up for grabs after Nyck de Vries sealed the title last time out in Sochi.

The 60-minute final free practice session gets underway at 1400 local time (1000 GMT), before the final qualifying session of the year takes place at 1700 (1300 GMT).
