Moto2: Elias on pole from Redding at Misano

Moto2 title leader Toni Elias took only his second pole position of the season - and first since round one at Qatar - after edging out young British star Scott Redding at Misano on Saturday.

Elias, riding in white and red San Carlo colours this weekend - the same as the Gresini MotoGP team - nipped just 0.044sec ahead of Redding on the 18th of his 20 laps.

For Redding, second marks his best ever Moto2 grid start - and second front row in as many attempts - and comes less than a week after the Marc VDS (Suter) rider took his first Moto2 podium with third at Indianapolis.

Elias and Redding will be joined on the front row by Julian Simon (Aspar Suter) and Jules Cluzel (Forward Racing Suter), who got a tow from Redding.

Andrea Iannone was the top Italian in fifth place. The Fimmco Speed Up rider is second in the championship and 67 points behind Elias.

JiR team-mates Simone Corsi and new signing Alex de Angelis will start sixth and seventh with early season title leader Shoya Tomizawa starting eighth for the Technomag-CIP team.

Mattia Pasini will make his grand prix return from ninth place for Italtrans S.T.R.
