Loris Baz has been forced to withdraw from the tenth round of the World Superbike Championship at the Nurburgring after an accident during morning warm-up.

The Frenchman, who was due to start in fourth position aboard the Kawasaki, fell towards the end of the morning warm-up session at turn 14.

Hurting his back in the fall, Baz was taken to hospital for a check-up but while he took to Twitter to say he was 'hoping to race', it has now been confirmed that he will not be lining up on the grid for the first race at least.

It is rumoured, however, that the main reason why Baz will not race is because his bike cannot be repaired in time. As such, he may be able to get out for the second race.

A big blow for a rider that was a winner last time out at Silverstone, fourth on the grid marked his best-ever WSBK qualifying performance.
