Gerloff’s performances didn’t go unnoticed as he was called up to ride for the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team at Valencia last season.

Gerloff replaced Valentino Rossi on the Friday in FP1 and FP2, while the Italian was unable to ride due to a false positive Covid test.

Joining Gerloff at GRT is Japanese rider and WorldSBK rookie Kohta Nozane, who himself has enjoyed MotoGP action recently as he was the factory team’s test rider alongside Cal Crutchlow at the Qatar tests.

Speaking at the team’s presentation, Filippo Conti said: "We are really proud to reveal our 2021 liveries here in Barcelona.

"Obviously, we have very high aspirations for this new season, following a really positive 2020 campaign with Garrett Gerloff scoring multiple podiums and challenging for wins.

"Kohta Nozane is settling well into the team and is constantly improving every time he gets on the bike. We can’t wait to get started with our new-look 2021-spec Yamaha R1 bikes."
