Stefan GP hiring staff for F1 2010
Stefan Grand Prix is still in the process of recruiting personnel for an assault on the 2010 FIA F1 World Championship, according to its website.
The Serbian-based outfit, which is led by Zoran Stefanovich, was unsuccessful in its bid to secure a slot on the grid for next year but it continues to maintain that it will be given the okay to compete.
Indeed following a meeting between Stefanovich and Toyota boss, John Howett last month, it has been rumoured that the Belgrade squad might purchase the rights to the successor to Toyota's 2009 car.
A statement released by Stefan GP recently read:
"SGP Team is confident the FIA will eventually green-light SGP team entry in Formula 1 Championship.
"However, SGP Team express satisfaction with fact that Sauber entry in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship has been successful. All at SGP congratulate Peter Sauber and Sauber F1 team."
Sauber's F1 entry was rubber-stamped on December 3, when the FIA confirmed the team had been 'awarded the 13th [and final] entry in the Championship, taking the place of the departing Toyota team'.
