British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton will return to the DTM bill when the series returns to UK shores, at Brands Hatch, next month, when he demonstrates his McLaren-Mercedes MP4-23 around the tight confines of the Indy Circuit.

The DTM is well-known territory for Hamilton, who raced in the headline-sharing F3 Euroseries on his way up the racing ladder, taking the title in 2005. Having conquered GP2 - and very nearly F1 - in the years since then, the Briton will return to the fold to demonstrate his Silverstone-winning machine to those hoping to follow in his footsteps. The F1 superstar will also take time to meet his fans after agreeing to take part in an autograph-signing session in the paddock.

"I am really looking forward to visiting a DTM race again," Hamilton admitted, "I have fond memories of the time when I competed in the F3 Euroseries, and really like the atmosphere of the DTM and the great racing which this series is famous for. I very much enjoyed my 2005 season when I became the F3 Euroseries champion and when the Mercedes-Benz DTM team celebrated my title win in Zandvoort together with me."

Hamilton's appearance - one clearly sanctioned by his father following Friday's embarrassing climb-down from a triathlon challenge thrown by F1 rival Jenson Button - is something of a coup for Brands Hatch, which now expects to add to its anticipated crowd numbers.

"We're obviously delighted that Lewis will be joining us at Brands Hatch for the DTM event in August," MotorSport Vision chief executive Jonathan Palmer, "It's going to be a fantastic weekend, and I'm really excited that we're able to offer British fans a chance to see Lewis in action in this year's Vodafone McLaren Mercedes."
