Augusto Fernandez wins the French Moto2 Grand Prix at Le Mans, his first victory since 2019 and first of the year for reigning champion's Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Pole starter Pedro Acosta and team-mate Fernandez soon broke clear of the field, but rookie Acosta fell from the lead with 15 laps to go.

That left Fernandez with a six-second advantage over Aron Canet, Somkiat Chantra and Cameron Beaubier, who fought over the remaining podium places.

Canet, still riding injured from the arm fracture in Portimao, escaped in the closing laps, leaving Chantra and Beaubier to duel over third.

Title leader Celestino Vietti recovered from outside the top 20 to eighth and takes a reduced 16-point advantage over Ai Ogura heading into his home round at Mugello.

After riding in warm-up, Sam Lowes was declared unfit for the race due to neck pain and dizziness following his heavy qualifying highside.

Countryman Jake Dixon crashed and rejoined a distant last.
