Dani Pedrosa has picked Ramon Aurin to be his new crew chief for the 2015 MotoGP season.

Aurin is presently Pedrosa's data engineer, but previously worked as a Repsol Honda crew chief with Andrea Dovizioso in 2010 and 2011.

Spaniard Aurin takes over from Mike Leitner, who announced his decision to leave just one week ago. Pedrosa and Leitner have worked together since 2004, winning 26 MotoGP races.

"I just decided who will be my crew chief and it is Ramon Aurin," replied Pedrosa, when Crash.net asked about his crew chief plans at Sepang on Thursday.

"We chose him because he is already a team member and the experience that he has. From my side and from Honda's side we all agreed that he is a very good option and we are very happy with this decision. I think it can be good for everybody."

Aurin's grand prix career began in 1990 with JJ Cobas. He has worked on Honda machines in the 500cc/MotoGP class since 1992.

Pedrosa, who dropped from second to fourth in the world championship after being hit by Andrea Iannone last Sunday in Australia, expects to work with Aurin as a crew chief for the first time at next month's Valencia post-season test.
