British Superbike star Tommy Bridewell will race for BMW Motorrad France Team Penz13.com in this year's Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race.

The Englishman, a BSB winner for Tyco BMW at Oulton Park this season, will join forces with Markus Reiterberger and Bastien Mackels at the prestigious Japanese event.

Team Principal Rico Penzkofer said that Bridewell will bring welcome experience to the rider line-up, having finished tenth for the Monster Energy Yamaha-YART squad alongside Wayne Maxwell at Suzuka last year.

"We are all very excited to go to Suzuka with our team for the first time," Penzkofer said. "I have raced there in the past and know how special this event is, especially for the Japanese fans, who consider this one as the most important race of the year.

"With it being the first time our team is going to race the Suzuka 8 hours - a long dream of all of us - there was no question about joining the official pre-test there [this week].

"Markus and Bastien will have to learn the track, so this is a welcome opportunity for them and we are sure Tommy's experience will be crucial to them to get the preparations right for the race later in July."

Bridewell joins former double MotoGP champion Casey Stoner, current MotoGP riders Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith and reigning World Supersport Champion Michael van der Mark in taking part in this year's Suzuka event.

The Suzuka race takes place on Sunday July 26.
