Bridewell blasts Buchan 'dangerous' after Thruxton crash

Tommy Bridewell has labelled some of his BSB rivals as dangers and feels he was at the 'wrong place, wrong time' after suffering a last-lap crash with Danny Buchan

Tommy Bridewell has labelled some of his MCE British Superbike rivals as dangers and feels he was at the 'wrong place, wrong time' after suffering a last-lap crash with Danny Buchan in race one at Thruxton.

The Tyco BMW rider was part of the gaggle of contenders in the hunt for third place during the closing stages of the Thruxton opener and entering the Club chicane on the final lap was wiped out by Be Wiser Kawasaki's Buchan who low-sided into the Wiltshireman.

Bridewell landed heavily on his head and back and was left battered and bruised by the incident and has blasted Buchan's riding style for the incident.

"Today proved that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people around me," Bridewell said. "You are at a massively high speed circuit and you've got some hot heads riding so erratic it is dangerous.

"Here of all places you have got to have a little bit more respect and some of them haven't but most do. The odd few out there are riding on sheer adrenaline at the minute and it is causing a lot of accidents.

"That corner [Club chicane] coming in at 190mph, I was literally braking and just starting to slow and I felt a bike go straight into my back. All of us are good riders but some of us have just got to settle sometimes and pick up some points instead of smashing the bike up every weekend."

Bridewell revealed he was uncertain whether he'd be fit enough for race two but after passing the medical tests he fought back impressively to grab fourth place and retain a place in the Showdown.

Both Bridewell and his Tyco BMW team-mate Michael Laverty will run a private test at Cadwell Park in the run up to round eight of the 2015 championship at the Lincolnshire circuit and says he's anticipating strong improvements in the run up to the Showdown.

"I'm looking to get some momentum for the rest of the year now after the team found a solution to some of my problems," he added.
