Jake Dixon leads day one at the 2022 Indonesian Moto2 Grand Prix, as lap times tumble in Free Practice 2.

Following a damp FP1, sunny conditions this afternoon saw the best laps of the day as riders fought to secure a top-ten place in case of further wet weather on Saturday morning.

Aspar GASGAS rider Dixon impressively finished almost half-a-second clear of the field, with Lusail winner Celestino Vietti emerging as best of the rest after FP1 leader Sam Lowes fell from his Marc VDS machine in the final minute.

Qatar runner-up Aron Canet suffered an early fall when he touched the apex of Turn 2, swiftly followed by a carbon-copy incident for rookie star Pedro Acosta, who was pitched into a highside after the front slipped away.

However Acosta, who finished fourth, has been placed under investigation by the FIM Stewards for crashing under yellow flags (for Canet), with a verdict yet to be announced.

Unlike MotoGP, Friday marks the first Mandalika laps for the Moto3 and Moto2 classes.
