Jenson Button and Sergio Perez have held clear-the-air talks on the back of their on-track battle during the Bahrain Grand Prix at the weekend.

The pair banged wheels while fighting for position at the Sakhir circuit, leading to Button saying that his new McLaren team-mate had been too aggressive.

Perez himself admitted that he may have been a little too hard but the pair have now held talks to resolve any potential conflict before it gets out of hand.

"Important chat yesterday with Checo Perez to clear the air," Button wrote on his Twitter account. "As a team we will move forward and live to fight another day. Roll on Barcelona."

Perez took his best result to date for McLaren with sixth in Bahrain with Button taking the flag in tenth - leaving McLaren with work to do when F1 returns to Europe with just 23 points from the opening four races.

By contrast, Red Bull lead the way with 109 points.
