Johann Zarco and Jack Miller timed their final runs in the drying FP3 session to perfection to jump into the combined top 10 at the expense of Andrea Iannone and Franco Morbidelli at Misano.

The session started in damp conditions following overnight thunderstorms in the region with a number of riders opting to wait for the track to dry out.

The times duly started to tumble in the final 10 minutes of FP3 to provide a late shot at the Q2 places.

Pramac Ducati’s Miller, who suffered two falls during Friday practice, became the first to jump up the combined times to displace Morbidelli having gained a tow off Zarco on his fastest lap of 1m 32.861s.

With Zarco starting his final lap just outside the Q2 spots it was an all-or-nothing attempt which saw the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider produce an impressive 1m 32.788s to push Iannone out – the first time the Italian rider has missed out on the automatic top 10 spots this year.

Zarco’s time also gave him top spot in FP3 ahead of Miller with Andrea Dovizioso taking third place for Ducati to maintain his impressive pace having topped both sessions on Friday.

Marquez slotted into fourth place for Repsol Honda having led the opening stages of the session in the damp conditions with Cal Crutchlow rounding out the top five for LCR Honda.

Alex Rins leads the Suzuki charge to book his place in Q2 with Morbidelli missing out having ended FP3 in seventh place on the Marc VDS Honda.

Dani Pedrosa claimed eighth place to see him miss out on the combined top 10 for Repsol Honda with Hafizh Syahrin (Tech 3) and Maverick Vinales (Movistar Yamaha) completing the top ten in FP3.

Both Iannone and Jorge Lorenzo failed to set a time in the session opting not to risk going out in the mixed conditions while Valentino Rossi, sporting his special Misano tribute helmet for the first time, completed the session down in 20th having produced just 10 laps.
