Valencia MotoGP test times - Wednesday (FINAL)

Following Sunday's season-ending MotoGP race, riders and teams have returned to the Valencia circuit to start their 2020 preparations in earnest during a two-day official test.

Vinales set the fastest time of the test - and beat the pole time from the race weekend - while using the new Yamaha prototype, featuring an updated engine and chassis, with an hour of testing to go.

As on Tuesday, M1 riders filled the top three places, with Quartararo and Morbidelli exchanging the top spot with Vinales.

The Petronas team-mates were again using the 2019 engine but had the carbon fibre swingarm and some aero parts to try. The Sepang team should get the new Yamaha engine, more top speed but said to be just as smooth, at the next test.

All factories with the exception of Aprilia, whose new bike will not be seen until Sepang in February, brought significant updates to this test.

Crutchlow was the top Honda as he and Marc Marquez continued to develop the 2020 RCV engine and chassis, plus a new wing fairing.

The Suzukis of Mir and Rins were an evenly matched fifth and sixth after an encouraging debut for the latest, more powerful, GSX-RR engine.

Pol Espargaro tried two versions of the new KTM 'beam' frame, which also looks promising, while the top Ducati was Pramac's Miller in tenth as he worked on chassis parts and an even bigger salad box.

Moto2 champion Alex Marquez - who will join brother Marc at Repsol Honda next season - was placed at the LCR team for this test and was on track alongside fellow rookies Brad Binder and Iker Lecuona.

Testing took place from 10am to 5pm, but the Wednesday action was briefly interrupted at 12:30pm when Iannone's Aprilia engine blew-up on the main straight, leaving his bike in flames.

Both Espargaro brothers, Lecuona, Crutchlow and Binder all fell during the final day, without harm.

Miguel Oliveira and Takaaki Nakagami were not present at the test, as they continue to recover from shoulder surgery, while Francesco Bagnaia was absent after his bizarre pit lane accident on Saturday. Danilo Petrucci stopped testing after just ten laps on Tuesday due to tendonitis in his shoulder.

Dani Pedrosa was back in action as part of his KTM test riding duties.

This was the last ever Valencia MotoGP test, the event being dropped from next year due to the expanding race calendar.

The final MotoGP test of the year will be held at Jerez on Monday and Tuesday.
