Luciano Burti has been summoned to Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello, prompting speculation that he could be set to return to the team next year, after testing for the outfit in 2002.

Although the reason for his visit has not been confirmed, Burti's manager, Marcio Valente, told formulanews/Crash Brazil, that he will definitely be at the Italian teams base late next week.

"Luciano Burti has been asked by Ferrari to come to Maranello next week," said Valente, "although the reason for his call up has not been specified."

With Ferrari test driver, Felipe Massa rumoured to have secured a return to Sauber-Petronas in 2004, it appears that Burti could again link up with the Prancing Horse, testing alongside Luca Badoer, and working with race drivers, Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.

Burti made his F1 debut at the Austrian GP in 2000, covering for Eddie Irvine. He then went on to race for Jaguar and Prost in 2001, before joining Ferrari as the team's 'fourth' driver in 2002.
